南欧留学から日本に戻った最大の理由が、日本人にしかできない建築デザインを身に付けたいという思いからでした。そこで、日本の伝統的な建築である数寄屋建築を学ぶことにしました。これを自身のデザインベースとしたいのです。
The biggest reason to return to Japan from South Europe is to learn the original architectural design of Japan. It is called Sukiya style which is the traditional Japanese architecture. I'm passionate to have basis of my design from Sukiya.


もとは庭園に面した別棟として造られた小規模な茶室を「数寄屋」と呼んだそうです。数寄屋の美しさは、使用される細い木材や他の自然素材のもつ繊細な感性、そして装飾のシンプルさから来ています。
The small cottage for tea ceremony separated from the main building and faced to the garden was called "Sukiya". The beauty of this style comes from the delicate sensibility of the slender wood elements and other natural materials used, and the simplicity of ornamentation.


現在、篠原数寄屋建築工作所の先生から教えを受けています。平面図を頂いてから自分なりのイメージで茶室を立体化するようなトレーニングをしています。
I'm currently learning Sukiya architectue from Shinohara Sukiya Workshop. I create 3D figures of tea house from the plan he drew and using my own idea.


工作所を訪ねては、作業を見学させてもらっています。やっぱり現場が一番勉強になります。
I often visit his workshop and observe his works. This is always the best way to learn something.


これは市内にある茶室を見学させて頂きました。これは、突上窓という天窓の一種です。しかし、ここは住宅の１階。実は、この窓の裏には照明が仕込んであります。
The other day, I observed one tea house in Fukuoka. This is a push up window that's one kind of skylight of tea rooms, but this is the first floor. In fact, the light is hiding above the window.

一日本人としてしっかり身につけていきます。
I'll try hard to learn it as one Japanese.

  

マンションのプチリノベーション。お客さんのご要望ご予算に合わせた最大限の努力が必要でした。まず、部屋の間仕切りや収納を撤去し、リビングを拡大する計画を。
This is a small apartment renovation. We had to make every effort to meet the client's request and budget. Firstly, we made a plan to removed the partition walls and the closet to conbined the living room and the next room.


寝室の開口部も拡大し、建具も追加。もともと壁のあった箇所の床には溝ができるのですが、床の張り替え費用を削減するため溝に埋め木を。床の補修専門業者には範囲が大きいため断られましたが、大工さんの技術によって塗装するとほとんど気にならなくなりました。
Enlarged the opening of the bedroom, and added another sliding door. There were grooves in the floor after gettinng rid of the walls. We normally install new flooring, but this time the carpenter put the tree panels to fill the grooves for cost reduction. One repair proffesional refused its repair because damege was too big, but the carpenter could completely repaired the floor. I was impressed his skill.


キッチンの劣化したカウンターテーブルを取替え。大工さんが眠らせていた素晴らしい材料を取り付けてくれました。飫肥杉の1枚もののテーブルです。
Replaced the old kitchen table and installed Obi cedar table which importantly stored in the carpenter's warehouse. Not a plywood or a laminated wood. Made of one solid wood.


6畳の寝室は、角にある既存収納を生かしたまま、1.5畳分を収納に変更することに。
Remained existing storage on the corner of the bedroom, and another 2.5㎡ of this room became a closet.


ワイルドな飫肥杉の建具で間仕切ることにしました。なかなか荒々しいです。
Made the partition of the storage with Obi cedar that has rough wood surface.


テラスにはウッドタイルを。非常階段が気になりますが、これは仕方がない。
Installed wood tiles on the terrace floor. Couldn't get rid of the emergency stairs, it can't be helped.


テラス部にはガーデニングの提案をしました。予算の都合上今回は見送りとなりましたが、今後、自分が南欧で見て学んだガーデニングがこういうところに生かせればと思います。
Offered a suggestion of terrace gardening to the client. Unfortunately the plan got rejected due to the budget. From now on, I hope to take advantage of the gardening design which I learned in South Europe.  

ちょっと前なんですけど、北九州市立美術館に行ってきました。建築家磯崎新さんの設計です。
A few months ago, I went to the Kitakyushu Municipal Museum of Art, designed by Arata Isozaki.


「いわさきちひろ展」を見に行きました。こどもや花の絵が特徴的な日本の画家・絵本作家です。昔から名前は知ってたんですが、天の邪鬼な性格なので、有名な画家の絵を見るのは敬遠してきたんですが、最近、水彩画や絵本画にとても興味が湧き、この方の作品を見に行くことにしたんです。
There was an exhibition of Chihiro Iwasaki who was a Japanese artist and illustrator best known for her water-colored illustrations of flowers and children. She's so famous here, but I'm a kind of contrary person and hadn't seen her works in ages. Recently I took an interest in water-color paintings and illustrated books, so I finally decided to see them.


天の邪鬼な性格を後悔する羽目になりました。めちゃめちゃ感動したんです。少ない線や色で作品が構成されていますが、この画家が何千回、何万回とデッサンを重ねた人の絵だということは、僕にでもわかりました。
I realized that I shouldn't have been a contrary person. Big mistake. I was so impressed with her works. She didn't use lines and colors that much , but even I could find out that she repeated drawings a million times.


可愛い作品なのに、なぜか切ない...　彼女の作品を見ると、水彩と素描の良さがますます好きになります。
Her works are cute, but sentimental. As I see her works, I like watercolors and sketchy drawings more.


この画家のことがもっと知りたくて、本を２冊買いました。波乱万丈な人生を送られていたようです。いわさきちひろさん、大好きになりました。
I wanted to know more about this artist, I then bought two books about her. It seems that she had a stormy life. Finally I like her works.
