ノッティングヒルからバスでオックスフォードへ移動。夕方に到着したんで、そこで友人のアレックスに会ってから、彼とイングリッシュ・パブをはしごすることにしました。
Took a bus, called "Tube" to Oxford.  I arrived there in the evening, met friend of mine Alex, and we made the rounds of the English pubs.


一夜開けてオックスフォードの街並みを見学しました。オックスフォードは「夢見る尖塔の都市」と言われ、これは大学の建築が見事に調和していることを表したある詩人による造語です。
It dawned, we walked around the streets.  Oxford is known as the "city of dreaming spires", coined by one poet to express the harmonious architecture of Oxford's university buildings. 


オックスフォードの建物には、この伝統建築ラドクリフ・カメラを含め、あらゆる時代の英国建築の例を見ることができます。
Buildings in Oxford demonstrate an example of every English architectural period including the iconic Radcliffe Camera. 


積石造建築が建ち並ぶ街中には珍しくハーフティンバー工法の木造の建物がありました。情緒があっていいんですが、完全に家が傾いてました。
It's rare to see a half-timbered building in the streets of masonry buildings.  It has a great deal of traditional atmosphere, but this building leans slightly.


大学構内にあるイングリッシュ・ガーデン。人工的に植えられたものでも、自然な感じがするのがいいです。
English garden in the school grounds.  The greenery was artificially planted, but it's very natural.


オックスフォード大学は英語圏の大学の中では最も古い大学です。こんなカッコいい校舎ってあります？自分の大学思い出しましたが、全然ちゃうやん。
The University of Oxford is the oldest university in the English-speaking world.  The school building is really cool!  It reminded my university, totally different!


地元の大学生達のタッチラグビーに参加してきました。楽しかったです。
I joined a touch rugby training with the local students, enjoyed it.


アレックス、ありがとう！帰路に向けてドイツへ移動します。
Thanks Alex!  I'll move to Germany before I leave Europe.

  

パリからロンドンへ電車で渡りました。ドーバー海峡の下を通って行くやつです。25,000円弱もかかります。しかも、パリでの入国審査は厳しく、時間がかかるので、時間に余裕を持って行きましょう。僕は1本乗り遅れました。
Took a train from Paris to London across the Strait of Dover through the Channei Tunnel.  It took 245 euros.  Furthermore, it takes long time for immigration, so you got to have enough time for it.  I missed my train anyway.


駅に着いてから地下鉄に乗り換えてノッティングヒルへ行きました。決して「ノッティングヒルの恋人」のファンだからではありません。キレイな街。地下鉄も落書きが無くてキレイです。
Transfered to Metro, went to Notting Hill.  I'm never ever a big fan of "Notting Hill". The town of London is clean and beautiful.  There's no graffiti on subway.


ノッティングヒルには、ニュージーランドのカンタベリー大学ラグビークラブに留学していた時の仲間がいましたので、彼を訪ねることにしました。この旅の趣旨を伝えると、街並みを案内してくれることになりました。
I have a rugby mate when I played for University of Canterbury Rugby Football Club, NZ.  He's in Notting Hill, that's why I visited.  I told him what I want to see or learn, he then started show me around, 


「ノッティングヒルの恋人」の舞台となった本屋さん。ちょっと、可愛くて感動しました。あかん、また映画好きの観光ブログになってまう。
This is the book shop the film "Notting Hill" was taken.  This facade is cute, and I was impressed about.  Shit!  This is going to be a moviegore and tourist blog.


ここは「ラブ・アクチュアリー」の舞台。もう完全に映画好きの観光ブログですわ。
One scene of "Love Actually" was taken here.  This is totally a moviegoer and tourist blog.  


でも、この住宅のファサードは植栽も調和して自然でかわいい。南仏とはまた違った形のセンスを感じました。
The facade of those houses has good harmony with greenery.  They also have a refined sense of taste, but different from Provence.


その後は地元のイングリッシュパブへ。おおきなグラスはパイントと言いまして、皆これを飲んでいます。しかし、俺、ちっちぇーなぁ。劣等感を感じました。ここにいたら絶対彼女でけへんわ。
We went to the local English pub.  People normally drink a pint, which is a unit of volume about half a litre. Big glass of beer, and is reasonable.  I felt inferior to the people in the bar, because I was short.  Believe me, I can't have a girlfriend there.


夜は友達のところに泊めてもらって、翌日は朝に地元のタッチラグビーの練習に参加。何て幸せなんや！午後には、友人が所属するチームのタッチラグビーの大会決勝があったので参加。全然、助っ人にはなってませんが、めっちゃしんどい。惜しくもサドンデスで負けてしまいました。
I stayed my mate's place, and next day I joined the local touch rugby training.  What the happiest moment!  In the afternoon, I played for the team my mate belongs, it was the final of the competition.  I wasn't a great help for the team, we lost the close game at final.  I was so exhausted.


もう一人、カンタベリー大学でラグビーをしていた方がいましたので、昔のチームメイト３人ということで記念撮影。カンタベリー３です。めちゃめちゃ楽しかったです。
Another team mate who played for UCRFC, we took a photo together.  Canterbury Three!  I really enjoyed playing touch with those people.
  

パリに来たもう一つの目的、カフェやビストロを見ること。そして美術館のデザインを見ること。美術館を見るのは、いつか美術館の設計がしたいから。僕、これでも世界中の美術館を見て来ている建築士です。身についているかどうかは別として。オルセー美術館は３回目です。フランスの美術館はそんなに待たなくて済みます。なんでイタリアにはこれができないんかなぁ。
Another purpose to stay in Paris, seeing design of cafes, bistros and museums.  To design the museum is one of my dreams.  I believe I'm one of the architects who visited the most numbers of museum in the world whether I learnt it or not ...  Third times to visit Musee d'Orsay.  We don't have to wait for a long queue here in Paris.  Why Frence can do, but Italy can't do it?


植栽豊かなオシャレカフェ。なかなか僕には敷居が高かったです。お客がみんなセレブに見える街。
Cafe with lots of green, I felt awkward about visiting this kind of cafe.  People in the cafe looked all celebrities for me.


スイーツのこのお店のショーウインドウは完全な成功例です。完全に吸い寄せられましたから。
This is one of the most successful design of showcase, because it attracted me so much.


パリでは僕の食品衛生のメンターである師匠と彼の奥さんのハネームーンに少しだけ同行させてもらうことになりました。
I met my mentor of food sanitation, and his wife.  They were spending their honeymoon in Paris.  


師匠夫妻とビストロ巡り。デザイン、ファサード、接客、料理、すべてが勉強になります。特に接客面ではご年配の男性の方が多く、この人になら任せて安心と思わせるその接客対応が素晴らしい。フランスのみならず、ヨーロッパでは多いようです。
We made the round of bistro.  Design, facade, service, meal and everything's great study for me.  Especially the service here, attendants are often elder gentlemen and I felt I could leave everything to them.  Not only France, but also other European countries has the respectable service.


三角屋根のトラス鉄骨造の外観のオランジェリー美術館。中に入るとコンクリートの箱が。更にこの中にはあのモネの作品、「睡蓮」があります。
Steel truss structure of Musée de l'Orangerie.  There are concrete boxes inside.  There is Claude Monet "Nympheas" inside of the box.


宿の近くにあったカフェ。オススメのお店です。場所どこやったかな？行かれたい方はお問合せ下さい。
Cafe near my hostel, I recommend you this place.  I've forgotten where it was.  Let me know if you want to visit.


店内はシンプルで、黒いのはあんまり好きじゃなかったんですが、ここのは不思議と心地良かった。黒も悪くないなぁ。
The interior design is quite simple.  I don't like to paint wall and ceiling with black, but it was a wonder I was comfortable there.  Black is not too bad.


あるカフェバーではバンドが演奏。ここの照明の使い方、見事な演出力です。
One band played music at the restaurant near my hostel.  The restaurant was good at atmospheric lighting which was superb stage effects.


丘の上の教会では音楽祭で大盛り上がり。教会前がクラブ化してました。罰あたりやなぁ。
  There was a music festival at the church on the hill, and people were so excited.  In front of church, the place became a music club.  There would be punished.


この日はパリ全体が音楽祭やってたようです。凄かったです。エッフェル塔も輝いていました。
it seemed that music festival was everywhere in Paris.  Plenty of people out there.  The Tour Eiffel was shining.  



  

アマルフィで会ったアンドリューが、Hipmunkという航空券予約サイトを教えてくれました。その時々、目的地での一番安い航空券を一覧できるサイトです。電車より飛行機の方が安いなんてことも多々あるんです。マドリッドからパリに飛行機で移動しました。
Andrew, I met him in Amalfi, taught me one web site called "Hipmunk".  We can check the cheapest flight at any time and place.  It often happens that a flight's cheaper than a train.  I filed from Madrid to Paris.


パリに来た目的はこれ！パトリック・ブランさんの壁面緑化の勉強です。壁面緑化は今では一般的ですが、彼のはその美しさ、デザイン性に抜きん出ているんです。
The purpose to come to Paris was to see vertical gardens designed by Mr. Patrick Blanc, French artist.  The vertical garden is not special nowadays, but it's beauty and design are so special.


様々な植栽が壁面に生息し、その種類、色や形状の違いによってパターンや模様を作っています。緑のアートです。
Varieties of plant grow on the wall.  The difference of the plant's color or form makes patterns and designs.  This is an art.


プレートの上に繊維状のシートが張られているような感じです。しかも、水が循環していて常に濡れた状態を維持しています。
It seems that putting fiber sheets on the wall board, circulating water, and maintaining the sheets wet.


これはビルの玄関上にある壁面緑化。ここは木まで壁から生えてました。もちょっと剪定したらいいのに。
This is the other vertical garden above one buildings entrance.  It should a little bit more trimmed.


これは化粧品店の店舗の中にある壁面緑化。多くの作品が ホテルや店舗内にあるのでなかなか撮影を許してくれない中、快く承諾してくれました。何て素敵な方々。でも蹲の使い方間違ってます。
Another vertical garden in one cosmetic shop.  Many of his works are in hotels and private spaces, so taking photos was mostly not allowed,but they were willing to comply with my request.  Mercy! However, I don't think this is the right way and location.  Something's wrong.


植栽も日本と異なったものが多いので見てて楽しかったです。とても緑デザインの勉強になりました。
The plants are different from Japan and making different design.  His works taught me a good lesson of green design.  

セビーリャから電車に乗ってマドリッドに来ました。昔の取引先があってよく訪れていたのですが、スペインで最もスペインらしくない街と聞いていましたので、ゆっくり街を見ることもなかったです。
Came to Madrid, the capital of Spain, from Seville by train.  I often came here because we had a business.  I've heard that Madrid is not like the city of Spain, so I haven't ever walked around this city.


しかし、友人のガルシアさんにあらためて街を案内してもらったところ、素晴らしい建築がいくつもありました。これは銀行やったかな？
However, friend of mine who used to my business partner, Mr. Garcia showed me around the city.  This might be a famous bank ...


これが市庁舎やったかなぁ?もともとは郵便局だったそうですが、メンテナンスに費用がかかったのか、別の建物になったそうです。こんな郵便局、引いてまいますよね。
This could be the City Hall? used to be a post office. Now it becomes different office due to the high cost of maintenance fee.  I would be nervous when I posted.  It is too gorgeous as a post office.


この日はガルシアさんオススメのタパスに連れてってもらうことになりました。タパスはスペインの居酒屋みたいなもんで、それぞれのお店に自慢のおつまみがあって、それをお客がハシゴしながら飲み歩くという素晴らしい食文化です。
Mr. Garcia took me some "Tapas" of his recommendation.  The Tapas is similar to Japanese "Izakaya", each tapas has a special meal.  People make the rounds of the tapas, which is a superb culture of Spain.


僕も店舗設計の勉強にタパスを何軒か回ることになりました。これは決して、観光ではありません。魚の塩漬けにパン。そして、ちっちゃいタコの唐揚げ。これ、ワイン進みます。
I made the rounds of the tapas, but that was not a part of sightseeing.  Study for commercial design and bar layout.  Salt fish on breads and filed  small octopus.  They made me drink wine a lot.


別の店ではこれをススメられました。ガルシアさんとタコのガルシア風です。それが言いたかっただけ。
We moved to the next tapas.  Mr. Garcia and Garcian octopus.  I just wanted to say so.  


また最後のお店ではこれ、白身魚のバジルニンニク炒めパンのせ。そして、ハム。一杯飲んで、自慢料理をつまんでハシゴする、こういうスタイルのお店、日本にもあって欲しい。設計します。
I tried filed fish with garlic and bazil and ham at the last tapas.  Drink, eat specialities and make the rounds of bars, this is the great culture.  I want this kind do style in Japan, I'll design it.


ガルシアさんとはお互いのビジネスや、家族や文化のことなど、月曜日にも関わらず夜遅くまでいてもらって、語り合うことができました。
We talked a lot about business, family and culture, even on Monday, walked around till late at night.  

マドリードの夜が更けて行きます。でも、サッカーのユーロカップ？のおかげで誰も家に帰る様子はありません。月曜日ですよ。
The night of Madrid had passed, but nobody went home because of the Euro Cup?  It was on Monday.  

カルモナからバスに乗って数十分、セビーリャに来ました。約3000年の歴史があります。ここもアラビア文化に大きな影響を受けてます。大聖堂は16世紀初頭に建てられました。世界一大きいカトリックの大聖堂です。
It takes about 20 minutes from Carmona to Seville, approximately 3000 years old.  The town was greatly influenced by Arabic culture.  Seville Cathedral was built in the early 16th century, the biggest cathedral in the world.


大聖堂の内部です。ヴォート天井が金色に輝いています。神々しさの演出でしょうか。
The high vault of Seville Cathedral was shining bright.  This could be a stage effects of divine beauty.


しかし、大聖堂よりも見たかったのが、スペインのパティオ。暑さをしのぐために造られた中庭です。これは個人のお宅のパティオの写真を撮らせてもらいました。
More than the cathedral, I wanted to see "Patio", a courtyard to avoid the heat in hot Summer in Spain.  I asked some locals to take a photo of Patio.


個人宅のパティオなかなか見れないんですが、地元の方が快く見せてくれました。基本的に左右対称に植栽が配置されているようです。
It's normally hard to see the private courtyard, but the locals readily let me in.  Basically symmetric design of plants.  


ここはピラトス家邸という昔の貴族の邸宅です。内部には特徴の異なるパティオがいくつかあります。
This is Casa de Pilatos, a big ancient nobleman's palace.  There are various features in the patio.


素晴らしいですけど、こじんまりした個人宅のパティオの方が好きです。
Beautiful, but I prefer the tiny patio of locals.


The patio has a couple of orange trees and ivy on the wall.  The orange and lemon trees are so cute.
ここには蜜柑の木と蔦のあるパティオです。蜜柑と檸檬の木って素敵やん。


こんな近代的な建築な建築もここではいくつか見れるんです。
It's also possible to see these modern architectures.

I could study about "Patio" here in Sevilla.  Although the end of June, it's bloody hot here!
セビーリャではパティオの勉強が出来ました。しかし、６月の後半にも関わらず、クソ暑かったです。  

コルドバからバスに乗って同じくアンダルシアのカルモナという街に来ました。特に有名な観光地ということはなく、街に着いたのもシエスタの最中やったんか、人がほとんど見当たりません。
Took a bus from Cordoba via Sevilla to Carmona.  Not a tourist place and might be in the time of siesta, I could see few people.


それでも、この街には中世の建築が多く残っており、白と褐色の街がここにもありました。やっぱ国によっても街の色や建築の特徴も変わってきます。
Neverthless, the historical buildings still remains, white and brown colored town was there.  Each country has a different color and architectural feature.


この街に来た目的はただひとつ。パノラマのひまわり畑の地平線を見ることです。ちょうど６月はひまわりシーズンですのでどれほどのものが見れるのか楽しみにして来ました。建築からは離れますが、こんなのが見れるはずです。
I had one purpose to be here.  To see panoramic view of sunflower field.  Just the right season in June, I was so looking forward to seeing it.  Apart from architecture though, I was suppose to see the view like the above photo.


何でやねん！まっ茶色やん。インフォメーションにひまわり畑はどこにあるのかと尋ねたところ、近年は干ばつが長く続き、今年は特にひまわりが育っていないとのこと。上の写真のイメージがデカ過ぎたため、かなり凹みます。
What the hell!  Really brown eh!  I asked to information where the sunflower's field is, they said the flower hasn't been growing due to drought.  My image was too good to accept what the reality was.


バスで次の街に移動する途中に気持ちひまわり畑が見れました。ブレてますけど。こんなん、宗像の菜の花畑の方が綺麗やん。やっぱりどこでも行く前にイメージを膨らませ過ぎるとダメですね。
I could see a little bit of sunflower field from bus, my photo was blurred though.  Yellow blossoms in Munakata, Fukuoka is more beautiful in this case.  Before you go travel, too good image is too risky.


これはスペインの特徴的なパラドールと呼ばれているホテルです。昔の王様の居城などをホテルとして開業しています。非現実的な王様の暮らしを提供しているんです。
This is generally called as "parador" which is reconstruct an king's buildings to a hotel. They serve us an extraordinally experience of king.


まぁ、しっかりアラビア調の建築を見て勉強して、はよ寝ることにしました。ほんまに凹みました。ありえへん。ひまわりで締めようと思ったのに。
However, I could learn the Arabic architecture, I then slept quickly.  I was so disappointed.  It can't be!  Sunflower was suppose to mark the end of my trip.  

バルセロナから電車に乗ってマドリッド経由でコルドバに移動しました。スペインの新幹線は日本ばりに高い。
Took a train from Barcelona via Madrid to Cordoba. The bullet train of Spain is really expensive like Japan.


照りつけるような日差しってこのことか。めっちゃ暑いっす。コルドバはスペイン南部のアンダルシア州にある街です。以前の仕事で取引先がここにあったので、何度か訪れてます。
The sun glared down on me, it's extremely hot. Cordoba is a city in Andalusia, southern Spain. I often came here for business.


ここは昔、イベリアとローマの街でした。中世になると、後ウマイヤ朝の首都となりました。なのでイスラム教の影響を受けた建築が多いです。その代表的なメスキータという聖堂です。
An Iberian and Roman city in ancient times, in the Middle Ages it became the capital of an Islamic caliphate. Under the control on Isramic dynasty, there are many Isramic architecture here. The photo above is a classicexample, Great Mosque of Cordoba.


中には広い庭園があります。スペイン南部にはパティオという中庭を対照的に植栽で飾る特徴的な中庭がありますが、これはその巨大盤です。
There is a large garden called a Patio, inside of the Mosque, the plants are symmetry located.


中はこんな風にアーチ状の柱が森のように美しく並んでいます。とても幻想的です。
The huge space is inthe Mosque, arched pillars are standing like forest. It's totally fantastic.


この橋は紀元前１世紀に建てられたものです。ここは街の色が白と褐色なのが印象的です。
This Is the Roman bridge which was built in 1st century BC. The colors of Cordoba, white and brown are impressive.


ユダヤ人街には白壁の路地が多くあり、壁面に花を飾っている所が多くとても綺麗です。
De las Flores has lots of paths, hanging flowers on the wall.

  

フランスのアヴィニョンから電車でバルセロナに移動しました。真っ先にサグラダファミリアに行きました。なんやかんや言うてもここはすごい！１０年前に来た時と比べると、だいぶ工事が進んでます。2026年に完成予定のようです。
Took a train from Avignon to Barcelona.  As soon as I got Barcelona, I visited Sagrada familia first.  Lots of people talk about this building, no matter what they say, this is just great!  The construction has been quite progressing since I visited here ten years ago.  It seems to be completed in 2026.


教会としては奇抜で美しいデザインをしているのはご周知の通りですが、ここはほんまにステンドグラスがすごいんです。赤・青・黄の三原色をベースに緑も加わり、絶妙の混色で自然に色が混ざりあっています
As you know, the design is eccentric for a church, but beautiful, furthermore its staind glass is brilliant.  Based on three primary colors, red, yellow and blue, plus green. The coloring of this stained glass is marvelous.

ステンドグラスを透る光のみならず、石柱、床、壁に柔らかく映る光もほんまに綺麗です。
Not only the lights through the glasses, but also the soft lights reflecting on stone pillars, floors and walls, are spectacular.


教会の窓はかなり多くあるので、様々な角度から色んな光が教会全体に差し込んできます。ここまでの規模のものってなかなかないですね。
The colored lights come filtering through lords of the windows, colored light birghtened the whole church.  This large scale is so special even in Europe.


この柱、何がどうなってんのかわかりゃしません。
Pillars are so complecated.


生きているうちに完成したところがみれそうですね。内部の建設過程における展示品のうち、模型や図面がかなり精巧に造られているのに驚きます。ここの立面図なんか見た日には自分の描いたものなんかクソやなっ！って思ってしまう。僕も頑張ろう！
Probably I could see the complete one in near future.  I saw the exhibition of his works in this place. The models, sketches and elevation plans are sophisticated and they are like an art. Compare with my works, my ones are piece of shit! I gotta work harder and harder.


ちなみにこれらのガウディの建築ももう一度おさらいしておきました。
Once again, I did a riview of the Gaudis buildings.  

また、フランスにも天空の城がありました。ゴルドという街です。フランスで最も美しい鷲の巣村と言われてるそうです。ローマ時代に築かれ、中世に要塞化しているのでその時代からの建物も残っています。
Another sky-high village, called Gordes where said to be "Most beautifully village like eagle's nest.  It built in the time of the Roman Empire, and became fortress in the Middle Ages.  Those age's buildings still remain.


お城とか教会とかもういいですわ。１軒１軒の建物が気になりました。これはカフェ。蔦系の植栽があり過ぎず、なさ過ぎずちょうどいい。
I don't wanna see castles and churches anymore.  I was keen to see the design of each shop and house.  The above photo is a cafe, climbing ivies were not too much, not too little.  Just the right size.


これもカフェ。入り口周りに緑。あり過ぎず、なさ過ぎず。
Another cafe.  Green is not too much, not too little around the entrance.


ブティックのファサード。塗り壁が剥げて下の石積みが見えている感じがいい。雨戸もいい。これが経年美です。
Facade of a boutique.  The plaster came off the wall, and bricks were exposed, I like the texture.  This is the beauty of aging.


あーあ、これぐらいがいいっ！レストランの入り口。庇は骨組みだけで、植栽で木かげをつくってます。
Holly shit!  Just the right size of shade, around front door of the restaurant.  The canopy was only a frame.


こんなとこにテラス席作ったら反則やな。
Too much advantage of the location.


ここは雨戸が可愛い。プロバンスはラベンダーの産地からかラベンダー色の雨戸が多いような気がします。これはラベンダー色ではないか。
The shutter of the windows were so cute.  It seemed that they chose lavender color for the shutters because of their speciality, lavender.  This is not a lavender color though.


お店の看板を撮りました。シンプルでいい。
Signs of shops.  The simple is good.


これ、前の村であったんですが、採石場跡の大空間に印象派画家の絵を映し出すというものです。いいアイディアやと思います。良かったです。交通が不便やったけど、色々と村を回れて良かったです。プロバンスのセンスを学ぶことができました。いざ、スペインへ。
This is about the last blog's village, there was a huge screen used be a quarry, projecting the Impressionists pictures onto the screen. It was amazing, a good idea too. It was hard to reach villages in Provence, somehow I could learn excellent taste in everything.  Now I'm off to Spain next.
  

アルルからバスで行ける範囲の村に行こうと思い、レ・ボー・ドゥ・プロバンスに行くことにしました。しかし、バスに乗ろうとしたところ、なんとストでバス休止。ストはこの日だけじゃなかったので、しっかり働けよ！って言いたくなった。仕方なくタクシーで行くことにしました。
Arles is easy to access from Avignon where I stayed, I planed to visit some villages where there was a bus from Arles. I then decided to visit Les Baux-de-Provence, but the bus company was on strike. Strike wasn't only that day, so I wanted to yell " Work hard! ". I took a taxi reluctantly.


着いた先は岩山の中。また岩山の上に村がありました。中世にレ・ボー一族がここに岩山を利用した要塞を築き、栄えた街だそうです。あかん、ここも当たりや！街の教会もこの岩山の石で造られたんでしょう、岩山と一体化しているような感じがします。
Arrived at the village on the mountain of rock. Les Baux clan built the fortress, they then had flourished in the Middle Ages. This village! I drew a prize in the lottery! I guess these churches were built of the local stones. The town is really like a part of the rock mountain.


ここの教会のステンドグラスは、大きいものではないんですが、デザインといい、色彩といい素晴らしいです。
The tiny church has a modern designed and colored stained glass which is really beautiful.


ある建物が地元の画家の美術館になっていました。受付の二人。たまたま、自分が大好きなベルナール・ビュフェという画家の展示会がそこであってました。
One old building became a museum of the local artist. Two were in the reception. Coincidentally, l could see the exhibition of Bernard Buffet. I like his work so much.


彼の作品です。大きなストロークで描いた線や輪郭が特徴的で、とても個性的でカッコいい絵を描く人です。
This is his work. He had his individual style of drawing with big stroked lines.


切り立った岩山を利用した要塞の跡です。岩壁には梁を引っ掛けるための穴の跡が多くありました。
People used to live here made good use of its landform, but fortress ruins now. There are many holes to catch the beams of houses.


岩山の上から見た街です。岩山と緑に調和しています。

雑貨店がまた南仏らしく素朴でお洒落です。玄関上の緑の庇がいいです。
The handiwork shop is like Provence style. Simple, homely and cute. The canopy over the front door was beautiful.


ほんまに綺麗な村でした。
I was so lucky to see such a beautiful village.

  

アルルに来ました。駅から歩くと旧市街が見えてきます。数時間で回れるくらいの小さな街です。ゴッホが暮らしていた街なので、ゴッホ好きにはたまらない街かもしれません。ちなみに僕はゴッホが大好きです。
Walking to the city centre, old town of Arles appeared. One hour is enough to see around this small town. If you really like Gogh, this place must be awesome. I like Van Gogh anyway.


ちょうどお昼時でしたので、旧市街の中はとても賑やかです。ここだけでなく、南ヨーロッパの昼時は多くのお店が閉まります。かなり長い時間をかけて昼食を楽しんでます。日本人と比べると実働時間だいぶ短かいような気がします。
It was just lunch time, the town was so crowded with people. Not only this place, but most of shops are closed in this time in south Europe. Taking a long time for lunch and enjoy it. Compare to the Japanese people, much less working hours than us.


この街にはローマ時代の遺跡も多く残っています。でもゴッホはこういった遺跡をモチーフとして絵を描いてないんです。興味なかったんかなぁ。こんな立派な建築やのに。
The ancient Roman ruins still retains, but Gogh didn't draw those kind of historical buildings as his motive. He might not be interested in those buildings. Fanrtastic architectures though.


ベタと言われようが、ゴッホが描いた場所には来たかった。ちょっとありえない色はしてるんですが。
It's just a tourists way though, I wanted to visit the places he drew. This cafe is unbelievably yellow...


ゴッホの「夜のカフェテラス」です。実際のお店がありえない黄色な理由がわかるような気がします。夜になると、照明に照らされたお店が絵の色に近くなるからやないかと思います。
This is the cafe he drew in his work "Terrasse du café le soir". I could find the reason why this cafe is unnaturally yellow, because this color makes this cafe exactly like his drawing.


ここどこやったかな… とにかくゴッホがここを描いたのは覚えています。絵と同じようにお庭が残っています。ここには「アルルの跳ね橋」の跳ね橋があるそうなんですが、現存しておらず、模造されたものらしいので見に行きませんでした。しかし、印象派の画家たちは、こういった南仏の街の気候やセンスに惹かれたような気がします。
Where was it? Anyway, he also drew this garden, still exactly the same as his drawing. There's a bridge he drew near the town, but reall one's already gone and now copy was the place where the bridge used to be located. Many impressionists visited or lived here for their works. They must have been attracted by its weather or a refined sense of taste.  

カヴァイヨンからバスに乗ってリル・シュル・ラ・ソルグという街に来ました。何この地名。よう言わんわ。ここは完全に来る予定ではなかったので、戦意も予備知識もありませんでした。水車があるらしいので、ひとつ残らず見て歩こうかなと。
Took a bus from Cavallion, visited L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. What a name! I can't say it properly. I wasn't supposed to come here, so I have no morale and no information about this town. I'd heard that there were some waterwheels, so decided to see them all.


何とまた水路の水の綺麗なこと。ここは内陸にも関わらず、水資源が豊富で、水車による動力を生かして、様々な産業が発展したそうです。水車に張り付いた苔がとても綺麗で、この水車、立派なアートオブジェになってます。こんなん造りたいなぁ。造れますよ。
How beautiful the waterways are! Though this is inland town, they are rich in water resource. Making good use of water as power, varieties of industry had been developed. This waterwheel is covered with moss. It is like an art work. I'm keen to built it. I can do it!


しかし、予想外の発見！ここはフランスでも有数のアンティーク街みたいです。アンティーク村なるものが点在して、それぞれの村に何軒もアンティーク屋さんがあります。士気が上がってきた！
I made a discovery, this is a town dotted with antique villages. I could boost my morale.


ちょうど職人さんが額縁を補修中でしたので、見学させてもらいました。かなり細かい作業です。彫刻刀の数もハンパないです。僕もできそうですけどね。
Just the right timing a craftsman was repairing a mirror frame. It was a fine art. I asked him to look around his work. Plenty of chisels. It seems I can do it.


あるアンティーク屋さんの裏テラス。ここにも所狭しとアンティークが並べられています。
The back terrace choked up with antiques.


ここヤバイです。ピンポイントで心に響きました。ネットでも購入できるそうなので、名刺入手。アンティークは自分の建築、造園にはどんどん取り入れていきたい派なので、このお店は本当に抑えておきたい。
This shop is so cool. I was touched by the antiques. They have direct sales over the Internet, so I got their business card. I really use antiques for my works even to landscapes, I have to keep the shop in my mind.


こんなお店が次から次へと表れ、目移りしてしまいます。
One after another I could see antique shops, l couldn't easily decide which one's the best.


こんな提案ブースまで。カッコいいんですけど、赤は興奮色なんでここではくつろげないでしょう。しかし、この像、こんなん家にあったら怖いっす。
One proposition booth is all red. Cool though, you can't relax in red. The statue scares me.


しかし、ほんま水が綺麗なんですよ。惚れ惚れします。たまたまこの街に来ましたが、水車とアンティークを見れて良かった。来た甲斐がありました。
The water is extremely beautiful, I like this place. I coincidentally came here, it was all good I could see waterwheels and antique villages. It is worth to visit.  

アヴィニョンから電車に乗って、村々を巡るために立ち寄った街、カヴァイヨン。目的とする村にはバスが一日一本。ネットの時刻表、しまいにはバス停にある時刻表まで当てにならない。村にいくには泊まるしかないと言われ、カヴァイヨンを散策して考えることにしました。
Took a train from Avignon, I stopped by for a little think in Cavaillon to take a bus to some villages.  According to the timetable on website, even at the bus station,  there should be four or five buses daily, but actually only one!  I can't rely on the local buses.  The information said, there's only way to get there, you gotta stay one night.  What the hell!  I took a time to think about my plan while I walked around the town.


街の奥に丘というか、崖というか、が見えます。街の中心地では広範囲に朝市が見られました。
I could see the flat hill or cliff at the end of the town and morning market around the centre.


パエリヤや鳥の丸焼きの店、多分ハト？がもの珍しく、ハチミツやオリーブオイル店が軒を連ねています。焼いた鶏肉の香りに心奪われ、ソーセージと何かの肉のトマト包みを買いました。平日やのにこの市場、毎日やってるんやろか。そうやったらすごい。
They have street stalls of paella and chicken barbecue, some chicken looked like a pigeon, were rare for me, the streets were lined with honey and olive shops. The smell of grilled chicken caught my heart, and I bought a sausage and tomate with something's meat. Is the market everyday? if so, it's amazing.


魚屋さんの露店まで出てます。日本の魚と似たようなもんですが、さばき方には雲泥の差がありますな。
Fish shop dealt with almost the same fish as in Japanese market, but its cutting skills were completely different.


名も無き教会に入ると(有名なんかもしれんけど)、こんな素敵な中庭がありました。教会に入るときは帽子取って下さいね。怒られます。規模は小さいとは言え、十分立派な教会です。このアーチ状の建築をヴォールトと言いますが、実際の造り方はこっちで会った建築士さん達に聞くことにします。
I visited the church with no name ... could be famous, there was such a beautiful patio.  When you enter any church, you gotta take off your cap, otherwise you'll be yelled. The scale of this church is rather small, but superb.  This arched structure is called "vault", I'll learn how to construct it from the architects I met here.


メリーゴーランドはどこのでもあるんすね。ここのは小っちゃくてかわいい。
Merry-go-around everywhere in Europe. This one's tiny.


結局、歩きながら考えた末に、全く行く予定もなかった、バスがよく出ているリル・シュル・ラ・ソルグと言う街に行くことにしました。
Finally I made a decision after walking around, I was going to L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue where I didn't plan to go, and bus often goes.
  

マルセイユから電車でアヴィニョンへ移動。中世にローマ法王庁が置かれた街です。教皇宮殿が自分の泊まる安宿から見えました。また、ここを拠点に村を訪ねることにしました。
Took a train from Marceilles to Avignon. Palais des Papes, palace of the popes was located.  I could see the parace from my cheap hostel.  I planed to visit some villages from here.


お洒落なレストランを見つけました。はいってませんけど。ここでは1000円以内でバッフェスタイルのレストランを教えてもらい、やっと、ちゃんとした野菜でしっかり栄養を摂ることができました。なぜならブログで紹介以外はほぼ毎日、ケバブかサンドイッチですから。
I found the cool restaurant, but was afraid to get in, it could be expensive.  My Korean roommate taught me a good and reasonable buffet styled restaurant.  Below 10 euros, I could finally have carbohydrate, high quality protein and vitamins, because i eat kebabs or sandwitches almost everyday except the dishes updeted on my blog.


この街は、全長4.3kmの城壁に囲まれています。宮殿は見過ぎて興味失ってたんですが、ここの夜景はほんまに綺麗でした。
This town is surrounded by 4.3 km's ramparts.  I was losing any interest to the palaces, because I saw them too much, but here was something special.  The night view of the palace was so beautiful.


ローヌ川にかかるサンベネゼ橋は、半壊したままで渡ることはできません。しかし、綺麗。
The Pont Saint-Benezet across Rhone river is as it was half destroyed, so you can't get across the river, but beautiful.

法王庁宮殿、近くからみるとほんまにデカイです。スケールが規格外です。
Pa;ais des Papes is massive when you see it closely.  


マリア様、ここでは、韓国人とアメリカ人のルームメイトと仲良くなりました。皆、勤勉な若者でとても刺激を受けました。
Ave Maria, full of grace, I met guys from LA, Korea and China.  They were so hard workers. Their wills were a powerful incentive for me to study harder.  

ラ・カディエール・ダジュールから徒歩４０分、タクシー、バスなどありゃしません。これまた丘の上にある村で坂道めっちゃしんどいし。ル・カストレという村に来ました。
40 minutes walk from La Cadiere d'Azur, I couldn't find any taxi or bus.  I was so exhausted to walk up to the La Castllet.


ここはポツポツ観光客もいて、南仏らしい店舗がようさん見られました。ここは陶器屋さん。
The village had a few tourists and shops like Provence way.  This is a pottery shop.

ちょうど結婚式が行われてました。ほんまもんの教会で、こんな飾らなくとも素敵な式ををして、日本の結婚式より全然費用かかってないんでしょうね。日本にもこういうとこが必要です！
I could see the wedding party. It was a real church, but the wedding shouldn't be so expensive like the Japanese.  We need this kind of place for our weddings.

ラベンダー商品の専門店のようです。めっちゃええ香りがしてきます。南仏の店舗って、レモンとか、オリーブ、とかハチミツ、ラベンダーなど何かひとつのものを売りに、こんな風にお洒落に店を構えてる。これが色々売り出すとあかんのです。
The air was saturated with the purfume of flowers. It is the specialty shop of lavenders, which In the south of France, I often saw the shops dealing with something in special like a lemon, olive, honey and lavender products.  One product at one shop.  If they sell many things in a shop, they won't attract people.


木製の雨戸がとても可愛いくて、建物のアクセントになってます。ほんと村に行くのはバスも一日一便とか、タクシーも走ってないし大変なんですが、行く価値があります。
Wooden shutter on the window is lovely here, which becomes an accent of the buildings.  Poor transportation, it's hard to get to the Provence village, but it's worth to visit.
  

バンドールからバスに乗って、ラ・カディエール・ダジュールという村に行きました。バスに乗っているのは３人だけ。葡萄畑に囲まれた小さな街です。ここでの目的は村のパン屋さん！
Took a bus to La Cadiere d'Azur.  Only three people were on the bus.  The small village is surrounded by vineyard.  My destination was one bakery!

Jesus Christ!  It's closed ...


仕方なくもう一軒のパン屋さんへ。ここのパンも美味しかった。何もつけなくても美味しい。これらのパン屋さん、素朴で南仏らしいファサード、インテリアは勉強になる。観光客向けじゃないから、媚びてない。
Somehow I got another bakery and bought a fresh-baked bread.  It was so nice as it was, you don't need any butters or jams.  Simple, natural, and facade is like the Provence way, they are not for tourist, for the local people.  I could learn lots of things from this village.


可愛い雑貨屋さんがありました。こういう美しい村で育つと、誰かに教わるわけでもなく、自然とセンスが身についてこんな風に飾れるんでしょう。
Cute craft shop.  Growing up in such a beautiful village, naturally make them have a refined sense of taste for everything. Those decorations were so natural and sophisticated.


村の人気レストラン、べラールです。店内からはプロヴァンスの風景が一望できます。ガラス張りの屋根上にはタープが。夜は星が見れるんでしょう。犬も大事なお客さん。
The most popular restaurant "Beral".  You can see the great view of Provence from the window.  They have tarps above the glass-paned roof to make the shade, and when they open it, you would see stars.  The dog is also a good customer.


片言のフランス語でこのお店の自慢料理で、お肉が入ってるやつ、そんなに高くなくて、と注文して出てきたのがこれ。説明がわからなかったので、何のお肉かはわかりません。久々の良質のタンパク質。うまし。
I tried to order some dishes with broken French, "Your recommendation, I want meat, but not expensive", they then served me the above.  I didn't know what meat it was, but so nice.  It had been a long time to have high quality protein.

1時間あれば十分回れる街ですが、素朴で、人々の生活感が感じられて、センスがあって素敵な街でした。
1 hour is enough to walk around, but homely, I could feel the life of the local people.  They shows excellent taste in design, decoration, facade, crafts and products.


  

南仏の田舎は宿と交通を見つけるのに苦労するので大きな街を起点に動くようにしました。マルセイユも南仏有数のリゾート地ですが、宮殿はもう見尽くしたので興味なし！でも、駅から望む丘の上の教会は綺麗でした。
It's hard to access to the villages and to find hotels in Provence.  I stay a big city as my basic point, I then visit small villages.  I didn't go anywhere for sightseeing in Marceilles, was not interested in palaces at all.  I saw them too much!  However the view of church from the station was beautiful.


南仏の村に行く途中で立ち寄った街、バンドール。小さなマリンリゾートです。カラフルな地中海遊覧船がひしめき合っています。圧倒的に鐘ヶ崎(福岡)の方が海は綺麗です。
On my way to villages, I called at the town, Bandol, the small marine resort.  Colorful sailing boats were at anchor.  Concerning the sea, Kanegasaki in Fukuoka is much beautiful.


港の前では蚤の市が。この木箱の数々、とても惹かれました。
There was a flea market in front of the port.  The wooden boxes attracted me.


その横では市場が。イチゴのまぁ赤いこと。

シンプルな造りの教会は、小さくていかにも街の教会って感じでいいです。
Simple designed church is really like a village church.


教会の前の噴水。その周りにはレストランカフェのテラス席が、木漏れ日の下で気持ち良さそう。

花屋のおばさんが、結婚式用の車にお花を飾ってました。
The lady of a flower shop was trying to decorate flowers for a wedding.


南仏では、偶然に立ち寄っただけの、こんな無名の小さな街ですら、とてもお洒落で活気に溢れています。
Even the small town I coincidentally visited has a good taste, and people are vital.  

エクス・アン・プロヴァンスという街に来ました。昔はこのプロヴァンス地方の首都やったそうで、南仏の芸術文化の中心地やったそうです。サン・ソヴァール大聖堂は印象派の画家、セザンヌの洗礼と葬儀がおこなわれた場所です。塔がたぶん六面体のユニークな形状をしています。
Aix-en-Provence, used be the capital of Provence, it became an artistic centre and seat of learning.  The above church is the Basilique St Sauveur where Paul Cezanne, one of the most famous impresionists, was baptized and had his funeral.  The tower is hexahedron, probably, and unique.


セザンヌのアトリエがそのまま保存されているので見に行きました。写真撮影は禁止で、中の写真は撮れませんでしたが、２階に大きな天井高のある部屋がアトリエやったみたいです。色んなアトリエ見てきましたが、大概、天井が高い。創作活動にはやはり、広々とした空間が必要なんでしょう。狭いとこで絵描いたら時々イラっときますもんね。
Cezanne's atelier is conserved as it used to be.  No cameras allowed, so couldn't take photos of inside.  His atelier is on the first floor, big and ceiling's really high.  Artists must need a large space for their works.  Small spaces sometimes irritates us when we draw.


セザンヌがよくモチーフとして描いたサント・ヴィクトワール山です。ほんまに綺麗な岩山です。
Cezanne often drew the montagne Sainte-Victoire, beautiful limestone mountain.


この街は別名「水の都」と呼ばれることもあるそうで、街の至る所に個性的な噴水があります。そう言えばローマも噴水多かったですね。
This town is called as "The city of water", you will see fountains everywhere in this town like Rome.


街歩いてたらすぐに噴水にぶち当たります。旧市街はそんな大きな街やないんすけど、100箇所も噴水があるそうで。
When you walk around this town, always get fountains.  This is not a big town, but there're 100 of fountains.


こんな年季の入ったのもあり。
This is quite old, but good color.

可愛らしいファサードのお店がありました。オリーブ製品の専門店みたいです。プラス・オ・ズュイルって名前です。オリーブはプロヴァンス地方の名産みたいです。あとラベンダーやワインなども。特にワインの名産地でもあるみたいで、お洒落なワイナリーがたくさんあります。
I found a cute facade shop specialized for olive products, named "Place Aux Huiles".  Olive is one of the famous speciality of Provence.  Wine's also, there're lots of lovely wineries here.


なんかこの、質素なパッケージの綺麗な陳列が秘伝のオリーブ的なものを感じさせられました。
I feel the products like the special olives due to the artless, homely packages and systematical display.  

糸島(福岡)の方がニースより海綺麗やん。ただ、ニースには国立マルク・シャガール美術館がありますので、美術館と彼の作品、特にステンドグラスを見に行きました。
Itoshima beach in Fukuoka is more beautiful than Nice. However, Nice has Musee Marc Chagall, especially I was keen to see his stained glass works.


彼の作品は色彩豊かです。シャガールはロシア生まれのユダヤ人なのですが、60歳頃から南仏ニースに永住したそうです。緑の中にこぢんまりした美術館があります。
His works are so colorful. Chagall was Jewish, born in Russia, since he was about 60, he had been in Nice. The museum is cozy place.


一枚一枚の絵は色彩豊か。でも、展示されている絵を一度に全部見てもこれまた綺麗。それを意図してでしょうか、美術館の壁面が同じ方向を向いています。
Each of his work is colorful, when you see them all at the same time, they're also beautiful. The walls are facing toward the same direction, It could be an intentional design to show his works together.


彼の後期の作品は、青、赤、黄、緑などの鮮やかな原色をベースに、多彩な色の組み合わせが絶妙です。
The combination of colors in his late works are superb, based on primary colors, blue, red, yellow and green.


シャガールの絵って、遠くから見ても綺麗なんすよね。
His works are so beautiful, even if you see them at a distance.


僕は彼の青い作品が好きですが、緑もいい。
I like his blue works, but green is still good.


そして、目的のステンドグラス。圧巻です。色んなステンドグラス見てきましたけどデザイン的には彼の作品から一番学びたい。
This is my purpose, his stained glass. Fabulous! I saw so many stained glass works, but his works are the best for me. I'm passionate to learn it.


ガラス自体にも描き込みがされています。ヨーロッパ中にある彼の青いステンドグラスはほんまに綺麗です。
He drew to the glass surface to make shades. His staind glasses all over Europe are brilliant, especially blue ones.


こんな可愛いのもありました。彼のステンドグラスは目標にしたい。
There is such a cute work. His work is my goal regarding the stained glass.
